Information on Azerbaijan-Nepal Bilateral Relations

Brief information:

The diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Nepal were established on February 28, 1995.

High level relations:

  • The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expressed his condolences to the Head of Nepal Ram Baran Yadav on the human casualties and serious damage caused by the earthquake in of Nepal on April 25, 2015.
  • The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, the President of the Nepal on the occasion of the national holiday- Republic Day on May 26, 2015.
  • The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated Bidhya Devi Bhandari, the President of Nepal on the occasion of the national holiday- Republic Day on May 25, 2016.
  • The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for congratulations to the Bidhya Devi Bhandari, the President of the Nepal on the occasion of the national holiday- Republic Day on June 22, 2016.
  • I.Hajiyev met Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Prime Minister of the Nepal and briefed him about the developments in Azerbaijan at a meeting held in Taj Mahal Hotel on September 15, 2016.

High level bilateral visits:

  • Mr. Ram Sharan Mahat, the Finance Minister visited Baku on May 2-5, 2015 to participating the 48th Annual General Meeting of the Board of Governors of Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Cooperation in humanitarian field:

  • The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) sent humanitarian aid to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on the strong earthquake, by the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev on April 29, 2015.
  • The Government of Azerbaijan expressed its gratitude to the Government of Nepal for the support of the candidature of Azerbaijan to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the term of 2017-2019 on June 14, 2016.
  • P.Jha from Nepal travelled to Azerbaijan on July 10-20, 2016, as a winner of competition "What do I Know about Azerbaijan" held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan.

Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Nepal was $66,11 billion in January-June 2015.

Bilateral Agreements between two countries:

There is no bilateral agreement.
