The Delegation of Azerbaijan participated at the 46th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, held in New Delhi.
The 46th session of the World Heritage Committee, considered one of the most important events of UNESCO, was held this year in New Delhi, the capital of India. The Delegation of Azerbaijan participated in the said event.
The Director General of UNESCO, the Prime Minister of India and other high-level officials spoke at the official opening ceremony of the session.
The agenda of the meeting was approved on July 22. On the agenda, the report of the Secretariat, reports of the advisory bodies ICOMOS, IUCN and ICCROM and the Regional centers were heard, the budget of the Committee and the Strategy for capacity building on Cultural heritage were discussed. Ambassador Elman Abdullayev, Permanent Representative to UNESCO, who presented Azerbaijan's national statement as part of the discussions, informed about the measures planned within COP29 to conserve the cultural heritage in Azerbaijan, to restore the cities and historical monuments that were deliberately destroyed during the Armenian occupation, as well as to protect the cultural heritage from the effects of climate change. Discussions on the agenda will continue in the following days.
Within the framework of the visit, Deputy Minister S. Yusifova held meetings with her colleagues from the UAE and Australia.
